EPIK ( English program in Korea )
http://www.epik.go.kr/
The
Korean government sponsors the English Program in Korea (EPIK), which places
teachers in public schools in different cities and provinces throughout the
country. Out of all the public school teaching programs in Korea, the English
program is the most inclusive and offers the greatest variety of locations
throughout the whole country of South Korea. Candidates can indicate a
preference for where they would like to live and teach.
The Korean government offers various programs for foreign teachers, such as the EPIK Program and the GEPIK program. These public school position options allow you to teach English in South Korea while working full-time with a salary and benefits package. In addition, you can also teach through Private Language Institutes (Hagwons), International schools, and private tutoring. There is a huge demand for online tutors, right from the comfort of your home.
Eligibility: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, U.K., U.S., South Africa & India.
Teacher Training is mandatory
GEPIK
GEPIK is a public school English teaching program that
serves the Gyeonggi province exclusively. The program is sponsored by the
Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education as well as individual offices
of education inside the province. The GEPIK program operates on an
individual school recruiting basis, which means you know exactly where you’re
going before you arrive. This is one of the most popular teaching programs as
it’s suburban lifestyle and proximity to Seoul make it easy for individuals to
live comfortable yet active lifestyles.

- GEPIK Program
The GEPIK program is very similar to the EPIK program. While both programs offer the chance to teach in South Korea, there are a few key differences between them.
GEPIK has recently merged with EPIK, so applicants wishing to teach in this province must apply through EPIK and list Gyeonggi as their preferred location.
Additionally, GEPIK typically places teachers directly into public schools around the Gyeonggi region while EPIK hires teachers for public schools throughout urban and rural areas.
Difference Between EPIK & GEPIK
Although both EPIK and GEPIK are teaching programs in South Korea, the main difference between them is that GEPIK specifically refers to schools in the Gyeonggi province.
